Who are we?
Portlethen Primary Together is a group of parents and carers who work together with staff to help our pupils have the best school experience they can.
What do we do?
We provide a voice for parents and carers on issues that are important to us and our children, and we support the school in developing strong home/school partnerships.
Parents and carers are the most important influence throughout a child’s education and family involvement in learning can and does make a real difference to our children’s achievements.
We raise funds to provide additional resources and activities, and we hold social events for pupils and families.
Here’s a snapshot of some of the things we’ve been up to over the past few years, pre and during covid restrictions:
Kept families up to date during school closures and signposted to various resources and support available
Contributed funds towards buying new ipads, sumdog licence, vimeo licence, charanga music licence
Lead a successful campaign against rezoning new houses to Portlethen School
Been involved in school improvement planning, school inspection, and school policy making
Set up a pre-loved school clothing shop
Run school fayres and termly discos
Contributed funds to buses for school panto and Abernethy residential trip
Raised money for playground improvements, including the MUGA
How can you get involved?
We hold open meetings at least once a term, which all members of the school community are welcome to attend. PPT is run by a committee of parents and carers and the positions of chair, vice-chair, treasurer and secretary are up for grabs annually in September. The rest of the committee have no official responsibilities but get involved in discussions, fundraising and events. We have a group of “Happy to helpers” who we call on when needed. Please get in touch if you’re interested, and join our facebook page for all the latest information.
